IPL innovation adds to the tedium

The latest IPL innovation, announced today, is to have a break of 7 ½ minutes after ten overs of every innings. Apparantly this is a “tactical time out”, or as we laymen would refer to it “blatant TV money time out”.

After three months of huffing and puffing, the ECB have given the role of Team Director to the man who was already in temporary charge. For all the nonsense of headhunting and shortlists, the appointment of Andy Flower does seem to be the right decision, at least on the face of it.

Jones suffers another setback

The announcement today that Simon Jones will undergo further surgery on his knee scuppers any slim chance he had of an England recall this summer.
