A South African lesson

So, South Africa gave England an education in the art of Twenty20 this evening, and nobody will be especially surprised that the gulf is this large.

Once Pietersen had been brilliantly caught, the game was up, which is saying something after just 5.2 overs, but once you get below the top 3 or 4, England do not offer much in the batting lineup.

South Africa seem to have the strongest bowling attack in this tournament, and it will be fascinating to see them match up against India on the 16th, by which time both might have qualified for the semi-finals.  It would be no surprise to see both these teams in the final.

For England to improve, they desparately need to find more innovation in their batting, and more game-changers lower in the order.  Flintoff offers power, but they also need to find players who can do more of the unexpected with the bat.
