Ask Bearders

For anyone who enjoyed listening to TMS over the last 40+ years, Bill Frindall was an integral part of the experience. His death earlier this year was mourned by the legion of fans who were familiar with cricket’s most famous scorer.

Now there is a new book being released called Ask Bearders, a selection of entries from the online column of the same name. Not only does this contain some fascinating cricket trivia, and not just relating to international matches, the love of the game and the sardonic wit of the Bearded Wonder shine through.

From the batting exploits of a TMS colleague (“No one in their right mind should remember anything about the batsmanship of Jon Agnew!”) to the most obscure facts and figures from the early days of cricket and even an explanation of how a scorer should count “retired dead” against a batsman’s average.

For some fascinating and entertaining trivia we can thoroughly recommend Ask Bearders. The book is due for release on the 9th July published by BBC Books, and is now available for pre-order.
