Chawla signs for Surrey
Piyush Chawla will be Surrey’s overseas player for 2010, as they continue to try and hoover up the better county performers from last season.
Sussex have already confirmed Yasir Arafat for next season, and their pace attack will need further improvement if they are to bounce straight back into division 1. Hopefully, young leg-spinner Will Beer will be given opportunity to progress after he impressed in the T20 Cup triumph.
Surrey meanwhile are fast becoming the Manchester City of county cricket, if there can ever be such a thing. They have already signed Steve Davies and Gareth Batty from Worcestershire.
This doesn’t really help their position as the most hated of all counties, but they probably don’t care.
