Cricket? What Cricket?
The Great British Weather refuses to comply with media hype and allow Michael Vaughan the chance to win the Ashes back singlehandedly against Durham this weekend – after all, why wait until July, why trouble the Aussies with making such a long trip?
The Royal Mail are seemingly passing my copy of Wisden 2009 amongst themselves before deigning to deliver it to me.
It is therefore officially a “slow weekend” as far as cricket is concerned, unless you are interested to learn more about Philip Hughes. Hughes, as we all know, will be playing for Middlesex in the first part of the summer.
Middlesex have been assuming all along that he would be a good chap and play for the good of the county. They are shocked to learn that he intends to use the stint to acclimitise prior to the Ashes. The rascal. He has even asked Steve Waugh about how to deal with English bowlers in a dismissive, Aussie sort of a way.
Now that really just is not cricket.
