England women show the way
Congratulations to England’s women, who beat New Zealand to take the Women’s World Cup in Sydney yesterday. Player of the Match was Nicki Shaw, who had been uncertain of her place in the team before injury granted her the chance to shine in the final.
Aside from individual performances, the team had shown throughout the tournament why they were one of the favourites to win.
With the World Twenty20 being played alongside the men’s event this summer, and the Ashes to follow, this can only add to the profile of women’s cricket in the UK.
