Ian Bell in run scoring shocker
In an effort to pre-empt the chorus of “Ian Bell should bat 3 for England” after his runs for Warwickshire, I shall make the following, bold statement:
It does not matter how many runs Ian Bell scores for Warwickshire, he should not be picked for England this summer
The reason Ian Bell was dropped by England was not because he is in poor form, or because he does not have a good enough technique. He is and he does. The real reason was because Ian Bell does not have the mentality to succeed at the highest level.
No amount of runs for Warwickshire can demonstrate that he has overcome this problem. Australia are well aware of Bell’s fallibility, as they proved by targeting him with their sledging in the past.
