Rob Key has signed a new contract and will continue as Kent captain, despite rumours that he was to up for Surrey’s cricketer relocation project. This is good news.
Even better, Kent confirmed that Key “brought a sense of fun to discussions”.
A source with no connection whatsoever to either Key or Kent confirms that Bob wore a series of amusingly captioned t-shirts to the meetings, including the legendary “Who is this Chris Adams girl anyway?”.
Surrey were always likely to be fighting a losing battle, based on the fact that Kent are a better team, and now a division higher. Also, most people hate them.
And if Key wants any chance of getting back in with England, he needs D1 cricket. He also has unfinished business with Kent, having come so close to winning trophies before the relegation in 2008.
