More on the ECB P20 nonsense

The editorial piece in the July issue of Wisden Cricket Monthly focuses on the ECB’s policy of flooding the market with needless cricket.  And a very incisive piece it is too.  Take the following quote:

The decision to launch a second 20-over tournament is based on the sort of market research that would involve asking people leaving a McDonald’s whether they enjoyed their Big Mac.  Using the obviously positive responses to then flood the market is the sort of wrong-headed short-termism we’ve come to expect from Giles Clarke’s ECB.

Indeed.  So, having decided that their best strategy is to open another restaurant across the road, presumably on the basis that people will start to eat twice as much, the ECB will ensure that neither tournament will be successful in coming years.

We’ve already had a rant about the stupidity of it all recently, and now we have opinion from a respectable source to back it up.
