Next series the most important for England
The 2009 domestic season begins tomorrow with the match at Lords between the MCC and Durham, the champion county. All the buzz revolves around Michael Vaughan, Ian Bell and who will make it into the Ashes team later this summer.
But first there is a two-test series against the West Indies and a chance for England to gain immediate revenge against their most recent vanquishers.
GCW suggests that a good first step for winning the Ashes would be to first focus fully on putting West Indies in their place. Being motivated fully for this series would be the best way to improve our cricket in the short-term. Using it as a warm-up will result in muddled thinking and strategy.
As any decent football manager would say, you have to take one game at a time. The Ashes will have to wait.
