Sussex get Eliminated
Diamond Eagles made hard work of it, but Cornelius de Villiers did for Sussex in the Super Over, taking both Sussex wickets in the first two balls of their over.
Earlier, Sussex had fought back well to keep the match to a tie, but then did a passable Saffer choke and threw it away needing just 10 to win in the eliminator. Mike Yardy’s quote about the Super Over:
We’ve never had one before. We didn’t really know what to do.
So, great captaincy there, Mike.
Which means that Somerset rely on Trinidad & Tobago to do them and English cricket a favour by beating Deccan Chargers. Otherwise it looks pretty bleak.
If that doesn’t happen, Owais Shah will be the only English representative in the Super 8. Which makes it even more of a disaster.
Giles Clarke hasn’t been watching the tournament, having been too busy trying to figure out where to hang that portrait of Lalit Modi.
