Symonds stays at home

The announcement of the Australian squad revealed one slight surprise – Andrew McDonald was in, Andrew Symonds was out.
It was felt that having Roy in the same country as Andrew Flintoff would be dangerous. Contingency plans had been put in place by the ECB to ensure that all sharp objects, pedalos and other floatation devices were safely locked away, but happily these plans will not now be needed.
Instead, they are sending a man nicknamed Ronald, which doesn’t sound nearly as threatening. The press are delighted, having waited years to unleash those disturbing Happy Meal headlines.
