Trescothick forced home from Champions League
Poor Tres. He had been much praised for his efforts in even reaching India to take part in the Champions League Twenty20 for Somerset. Now he has been forced to return home after a recurrence of his stress related illness.
If you read the forums and message boards, you will come across an incredible amount of ignorance where Trescothick’s illness is concerned. This reflects the general attitude towards mental illness – people just don’t want to know. Ultimately, his situation is none of our business.
So let me simply say that it is a terrible shame to see such a good servant of both Somerset and England suffer in this way. He deserves better, and I hope he can put this latest setback behind him and continue to delight on the county circuit for years to come.
