What has Graham Napier done wrong?

In the World T20, nothing.  Because he didn’t get a game.  Not even a warmup match.

With England’s biggest problem in T20 being not hitting many boundaries, this is scandalous.  After all, Napier played the most explosive T20 innings ever and second only to Brendan McCullum’s IPL innings in 2008 in terms of runs scored.  And he is a good quality T20 bowler as well.

As if to prove a point, yesterday he smashed Kent for 64 off 68 balls in a 4 day game, and had Rob Key lbw first ball for good measure, releasing all that pent-up T20 frustration.

We can only conclude that Napier has somehow upset English cricket.  Probable reasons include:

  1. He scores his runs too quickly.  Most unseemly.
  2. That many sixes in one innings (16) is just dirty.
  3. He actually got a game in the IPL.  This upset Colly greatly.
  4. England already had their full complement of Essex players.
  5. He cannot spell the word “nurdle”.  This also upset Colly greatly.
  6. Napes has his own website.
