Giles Clarke & the meaning of lunch

Lalit Modi has set out his side of the story of THAT lunch with the counties, accusing Giles Clarke of being motivated by personal dislike of the IPL Chairman. But the importance of lunch to county cricket’s decision making process should not be underestimated. We reveal the hidden culture that Lalit may or may not be familiar with.

Civil war in English cricket

Several of the Test Match grounds have been plotting a rebel UK Twenty20 league with Lalit Modi. English cricket is on the brink of civil war.

Captain Bligh of the ECB

Giles Clarke always seems to have the expression of a man who has just reversed his car over the family dog. Now that some of the county ranks are threatening mutiny, he’s threatening to get very cross indeed.

Mark Robinson wastes his breath

Sussex coach Mark Robinson knows a few things about getting the best out of players. Sussex won the Twenty20 Cup and the Pro40 this season, and were runners-up in the FP Trophy. Players declare war on ECB

English professional cricketers via the PCA have given the ECB a public vote of no confidence over it’s running of the game. Let the debate begin…

The Ashes: Headingley aims to provide miserable experience

Yorkshire chief exec Stewart Regan is one of my favourite inept English Cricket Administrators. Or, at least, he always sounds inept when quoted in the press. In amongst Giles Clarke’s plea for England fans to stop booing Ricky Ponting (thus guaranteeing an escalation), Regan chipped in with his contribution.

Thank you, ECB

Contrary to popular opinion, GCW does not have the ear of the bigwigs at the ECB. Or at least, we didn’t think that was the case. Now we are starting to wonder.

Dump the P20 please, ECB

What benefit is the P20 supposed to bring to English cricket? The ECB initially unveiled it as their answer to the IPL, but it has been watered down and fudged so much that the original question has long been forgotten.

How English cricket became John Buchanan’s plaything

It appears to be worse than we thought. Cricket Coaching Genius™ John Buchanan is now in the UK on a “fact-finding” mission for a week. But, according to Cricinfo, the ECB are essentially going to allow Buchanan to invent a job for himself.

Australia call for 12th man

According to a report from Sky Sports today, Cricket Australia have requested that the tourists be allowed to field 12 players during their first class warm-up matches against Sussex and England Lions, allowing them to replace a batsmen with a bowler when they are in the field.
