Bangladesh v Australia: ODIs are boring again

It was nice while it lasted. For a couple of short weeks, one day internationals were exciting again. The World Cup had us interested, India was rapt, Ireland was thrilled, England was…not as surprised as they would have liked to have been. Then came Australia’s ongoing tour of Bangladesh, and all that hard work has been undone.

There’s an Ashes series looming on the horizon. Which is why the media are in a frenzy, turning out whatever tripe they can get their hands on. This time, they’ve started early.

Ashes 2nd Test, day 5: Flintoff ends Lord’s record

Played 18, drawn 9, lost 9. This is England’s record against Australia at Lord’s from 1938 until this morning. Their last Ashes victory there, in 1934, was the only time England achieved the feat in the whole of the 20th Century.
