It’s only 10 months since the last edition, but I am strangely exited about this tournament in a way that it’s impossible to be about the IPL right now. The format is lean and snappy, the cricket will be competitive and it’s genuinely hard to call this one, although I am going to have a go.

So after all the panic, England are through to the Super 8, and it is Pakistan who must sweat. How competitive England will be against the best teams remains to be seen.
So, England have set Pakistan 186 to win. A better performance this time, although still the suspicion that it could have been more at the half-way point of the innings.
