Ravi Bopara may not get another chance to win the place vacated by Paul Collingwood after today. If he doesn’t take it, younger players could be ahead of him by the time another England vacancy is up for grabs.

It’s only 10 months since the last edition, but I am strangely exited about this tournament in a way that it’s impossible to be about the IPL right now. The format is lean and snappy, the cricket will be competitive and it’s genuinely hard to call this one, although I am going to have a go.

A new blog I have picked up on recently is Danny Pugsley. His latest entry highlights some interesting stats from the World T20 so far. Whilst we are all eulogising about the big-hitting powers of a Sehwag, de Villiers or McCullum, it is the bowlers who are having the greatest influence on the tournament so far.
