Luke Wells makes a splash

A fourth innings run chase is a pretty good time to make your mark for the first time at any level of cricket. Having been thrashed by Lancashire in their opening fixture, as is their habit against the Red Rose, Sussex were staring down the barrel again at Chester-le-Street, facing a target of 309 and without key batsmen like Mike Yardy, Matt Prior and Luke Wright.

A message to the Champions League mockers

There is a certain class of English cricket enthusiast who will have barely registered that the Champions League was even taking place this past two weeks. Sussex get Eliminated

Diamond Eagles made hard work of it, but Cornelius de Villiers did for Sussex in the Super Over, taking both Sussex wickets in the first two balls of their over.

So when he publicly states that his team are having to play so much cricket during the summer that they can’t train properly, you would think that the ECB would pay attention. They won’t.

Sussex don’t play IPL team, lose

New South Wales Blues have the luxury of calling on a full Australian international bowling attack in the CLT20. It might win them the tournament. Sussex don’t. In order to win, therefore, Sussex needed their two Asian stars, Yasir Arafat and Piyush Chawla, to perform. They didn’t.
