Write for GCW

Write for Good Cricket WicketIf you are interested in writing for Good Cricket Wicket, you are welcome to get in touch.  I’m interested in anything interesting, funny, serious, historical, analytical…well, you get the idea.

I can’t promise that every submission will be published (or when it will be), but I will be happy to hear from you if you think you’ve got a great idea.

What should I write about?

We all know that Sachin Tendulkar is brilliant, that not many Australians like Michael Clarke and that county cricket is strapped for cash.  There are articles all over the internet proving that these things are true.

So maybe try something a bit more creative?

For example, in the past I’ve compared Shane Warne to Dionysius, argued that Pakistan should keep picking Kamran Akmal and demonstrated that Misbah-ul-Haq batted in the World Cup semi-final as if he was trying to save a test match.

So, the world is your oyster.  If you have proof that West Indian outfields are faster when they are mown on a Tuesday morning, or you think that Gilbert Jessop’s batting average is the reason why Gavin Hamilton got the yips, get in touch.  If you want to explain why you think Sachin is actually a worse batsman than Danny Morrison, then this is the place for you.

Any level of cricket is acceptable, from test cricket to Hong Kong league cricket to an impromptu game down the park with your mates.

How should I write it?

There’s no particular style that you should write in – do what comes naturally.  After all, variety is the crucial element of a balanced bowling attack.

You’ll be more likely to get published on GCW if your writing is to a reasonable standard, but it doesn’t have to be perfect.  All submissions will be proof-read/edited, so a few minor errors aren’t a problem.

However, anything offensive, discriminatory or libellous will not see the light of day.

You may have noticed that the home page shows an image for each post – don’t worry, you don’t need to source these yourself!

How should I submit it?

If you’ve written an article and would like to submit it for consideration, please use the contact form and I will get back to you – if you would prefer to submit in PDF or Word format, let me know and I’ll send you a contact email address.

Alternatively, if you’ve got an idea that you think would fly like a Sehwag swat over mid-wicket, you can give me a shout on Twitter or Facebook.
